Start of October break

Went to Arts Centre (Peacock)with the students yesterday. Lovely B&W; exhibition in the main reception with work from Shepard Fairey, Mike Giant, Ralph Steadman etc. Over in the other space was a great architectural/graphic display by Toby Paterson.

Today, went for a walk up Brimmond Hill. Lovely breezy, autumnal sunny day. Good start to the October break.

Got a copy of the 'Versus' illustration poster in the post today, with my work being used as part of the promo material for the exhibition in Bristol. More can be seen about it here.

Sunday

Today we ventured to the beach. Had a very tasty breakfast at 'The Inversnecky', then walked along the beach to Footdee (pronounced 'Fittie') and visited some of the North East Open Studios. 'Oil and Glass' - the work of Shelagh Swanson was great. She had a cosy little studio in her fisherman's style cottage. I ended up buying a ring, but could have bought so much more stuff! Fell in love with Footdee again - I want a house there! Such a lovely little community. :) Then went to our favourite Japanese fusion restaurant for Beef, noodles and Japanese cocktails. Lovely lazy Sunday.

Mischief

Neighbour's cat. Always in our garden getting up to mischief, playing with the other cats and occasionally fighting late at night.

Rocks of Solitude - Edzell.

Went for a bit of a walk along the River Esk in Edzell yesterday. Eight of us set off; discovered an old fishing bothy, had a picnic lunch on the 'rocks of solitude' beside the river - where you can often see Salmon leaping in spring/early summer. Matt and Sarah went foraging for mushrooms to put in a risotto, and Lucy showed off her gymnastic skills on a tree trunk high above the ground. A well deserved ice cream was had in the village 7/8 miles later, and then the intrepid eight headed home. :)

Glasgow, Beer, Crochet and Printing

Summer holidays nearly at an end. Visited some great places, (see below) but also managed a quick visit to Glasgow. Stayed at 15 Glasgow and popped into BrewDog Glasgow (surprise surprise!)and also visited the excellent Kelvingrove Museum. I've also been escaping the computer and doing some 'amigurumi' (Japanese style character crochet) and a bit of lino printing, which you can see more of here.
